Full scale artwork was meticulously painted by hand, inspired by the wood grain from an olive tree, then scanned and turned into a repeating pattern ready for production using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

This client wanted to expand this mid-18th century English watercolour plate into a vectorized, repeating pattern ready for production. Pantone swatches are always pre-selected and included in manufacturer’s instructions to ensure optimum colour matching and reduce sampling time.

Ideas for designs can start anywhere - even in a sketchbook. The contours of this pencil sketch were traced and arranged in Adobe Illustrator to create a seamless repeat that retains a subtle touch of the original hand drawing while infusing it with a digital polish.

The perfect animal print may be difficult to find even in the most high-end fabric stores, which is what makes this print so unique. The character and flow of the ocelot’s unique markings were translated into careful hand-painted artwork and then after many hours of cleaning, retouching, and slightly rearranging elements, we have the seamless 4-way repeat.

The client requested that this pattern found on a traditional garment from her travels be digitized into scaleable vectors for new print development. This motif was further modified for the final result.

The client wanted this particular artwork to be engineered for a 8-color screen print design. Each color layer was painted individually to facilitate color separation.
